Obama still sticks up for Hillary, There is a youtube video out and it shows the Reverend Michael Plfeger mocking Hillary, all because she cried before primaries in January. Pleger thinks that hillary was going to be president because her husband former president bill clinton was president and thats how she would win. Obama has know Pleger for more then twenty years and did not like how he made remarks like that and think his remarks were racial and hateful. Wonderful to at least hear Pfleger apologize for his comments even though there are people that thinks Hillary gets what she deserves.

I turned on Morning Joe this morning just in time to hear their spin on the newest Barack Obama pastor “controversy.”
The pastor in question this time is Father Pfleger, a catholic pastor and community activist from Chicago’s South Side, not very far from where I used to live as a matter of fact. And the controversy concerns some comments that he made about Senator Hillary Clinton during a sermon at Trinity United Church of Christ, of which Senator Barack Obama is a member.
There is footage of him making fun of Hillary Clinton, riffing on how she felt “entitled” to the presidency because her husband was president and because she is white, and along comes this “black man” who has the audacity to take what is rightfully hers. He parodies Ms. Clinton, taking out a handkerchief and wiping his face while pretending to sob.
Oh! My! God!
So friggin’ what! This man is not Obama’s pastor! What? Because he hails from Senator Obama’s home base, Chicago, that makes him a spokesman for Obama?
Furthermore, why can’t he make a funny at Hillary Clinton’s expense? He is expressing a somewhat disconcerting premise that many people wonder might be the case, and he is doing it in in a comical manner, a common and accepted way to express social issues that in our uptight, stuffy culture are otherwise difficult to comment on openly. Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Chris Rock and many other comedians have made a good living doing exactly that.
Is the thinking that, because he is a man of the cloth, he can’t joke like that? Is the rule that clerics have to be pious at all times and are only allowed to make a funny if it is completely ineffectual and harmless? I don’t agree with that. This is again, to me, another example of the media and certain factions of white America seeming incapable of separating their own cultural mores from those of others that don’t share their outlook. And I said, “…certain factions,” not all white folks because, here’s the kicker… Father Pfleger is white!
Anyway, here is the damning evidence: He was speaking at Obama’s church at the time. He knows Reverend Wright. In fact, he claims to be a good friend of Barack Obama’s former pastor. That’s no more than three degrees of separation! He must be speaking for Barack Obama! You know what else? He is also an acknowledged friend of… you ready? Minister Louis Farrakhan! Yes!
I have to wonder how much that sticks in some folk’s craw. It’s like one of the commentators on the show asked, “…and where did he get that accent?” Meaning, to my way of thinking, “Why does he talk like a black guy?”
He’s like the Eminem of the religious activist world. Unlike, Mr. Mathers though, Pastor Pfleger’s credentials are pretty much unimpeachable. He is known for his unwavering commitment to the black community in which he lives. Methinks he is a little too unapologetically entrenched in black culture for some white folks to ever understand or forgive him for that.
The obviously ludicrous thing about this whole increasingly, mind-numbingly nonsensical shebang though, is the whole idea that Senator Obama has anything to do with the comments that Father Pfleger made. I mean, the whole guilt-by-association thing with Reverend Wright was a stretch, but this is just absolutely ridiculous! Next thing, they’ll have him apologizing and/or repudiating some comment made by a homeless guy interviewed in an alley three blocks from where he lives!
I can see it now. Some reporter from Fox or MSNBC standing in the alley, gravely intoning, “You have to wonder, with this indigent citizen roaming only blocks from the Senator, what views do they share? Why hasn’t Barack Obama made any effort to censor this man, or at least distance himself, physically and ideologically from his radical views?”
Has the media really become so hungry for scandal and controversy that they will seize upon any shred and try to build it into some type of issue? Has the public become so brain-dead and gullible that they will accept without question any manufactured controversy that is presented to them? I hope not, and in general, I don’t think so. However, there is a large contingency that, on the lookout for something to justify their own fear-based, historically-biased views, will grab hold of any crumb of potentially negative perspective that they can get their mitts on. And, unfortunately, in today’s sensationalistic media where almost no utterance or gesture is private anymore, there is no shortage of utterances, events and theories to twist and sculpt into something that it isn’t and never was intended to be; to be presented as “news” and, heedless of what ingredients it may be made up of, be swallowed raw by those eager to feed their insatiable appetite for a scandal to support their own tainted viewpoints.
